I think Jesse felt it was his time to get back into the lime light. Just as Jay Leno said, "when does Jesse go anywhere when the mic is not on"?

And him saying it not knowing the mic was on, so what that doesn't make things any better. C'mon Jesse, you knew what you were doing.
